Description: Exceptional and unusually chatty autographed letter signed. 4 pages, each two-page fold-out measuring 6.75 x 10.75 inches, no place, November 12, 1946. Written to Mrs. Frederic R. Coudert, wife of the International attorney and power broker, sending salutations and showing her disdain for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in part: "...I must send you a greeting...your son will be a member of Congress - and what we have had to live through since F.D.R...Four Terms!! I have been ill several months with asthma...terribly bored with myself...The results of the election were great! At last the Roosevelt regime has to take a backseat...or the rear seat - at least. What a world we live in..." A rather charming letter from the former First Lady who was then 88 years old, and who is often depicted as senile in her later years, by historians. It is quite possible that she didn't grasp that F.D.R. was dead for 19 months when she wrote this letter. Horizontal fold; near fine condition.

Comments: First Lady of the United States and second wife of President Benjamin Harrison.
