Description: Three 4to pages, stapled, on The Saturday Review of Literature letterhead, with numerous holograph corrections and a 7 line autograph post-script. New York, February 15, 1947.

Comments: Benet apologizes profusely and at length for having to drop a poem by Kreymborg because of its length. The "Exec" had told him " to reduce the amount of space to the minimum because of the rising paper and printing costs that are just about squeezing the life out of small publishers... This was the first intimation I had had that I was not to have most of an issue for the Poetry Number......I'm in a hell of jam....". A good letter, highlighting the state of poetry in the post-World War II years.

Your beautifully wrapped package of books -- two copies of "Journal in the Night" -- arrived at my door this morning and made my day! A thousand thanks for the care you took, first to find them, and then to send them as you did, all done up with tissue paper to boot. It was like Christmas in June AND it was my first experience buying books on the Internet. All the best to you, and perhaps our paths will cross again. - Janet B.
