Description: Inscribed by the author and includes a typed letter. 1019 pages, thick 8vo, black boards, edge-worn dust wrapper. New York: Holt, Rhinehart and Winston, (1977). One volume reprint. corner, a very good copy(+) in a very good(-) dust wrapper.

Comments: Inscribed by Paul Horgan to Howard Kissel, dated 1979. Includes a signed, typed letter on Wesleyan University stationary. The letter reads: "Dear Howard Kissell, to thank you warmly for such good talk over lunch the other day. I was much gratified that you already had had extensive knowledge of my work. I send with this a copy of my Rio Grande history. It was published in 1954 and has never been out of print (though the two volume paperback has lapsed and is between editions); but through God knows how many printings, the publishers have never changed that idiotically out of date photograph on the jacket. Please discard. FSG are sending you my Richard novels -- if you read them, the proper order is 1, Things as They Are; 2, Everything to Live for; 3, The Thin Mountain Air. All the best, Yours sincerely, Paul Horgan."

Dear Argosy. THANK YOU very very much. I ordered the book "A Case of Removal of the Lower Jaw, for Osteo-Sarcoma of Immense Size" by George C. Blackman. I was pleased beyond words just to think that I was getting an original copy of a book that my great great grandfather wrote. When it arrived it was an even bigger treasure for me, as his own handwriting was in the upp right corner of the cover, giving the book to a fellow colleague. Thanks again so very much for helping me bring my ancestry searching a little closer and more personal. - S.B. Pratt
