Description: Very scarce signed photograph measuring 5.5 x 4.5 inches -- a black-and-white shot depicting Seabury dressed in his judicial robe. No place, no date, circa 1935. Boldly signed in full. Near fine.

Comments: Powerful New York Supreme Court Justice who publicly called Theodore Roosevelt a "blatherskite and a liar," after the latter reneged on supporting Seabury's efforts in becoming Governor of New York. In 1930 he headed the Seabury Commission whose investigation forced Mayor Jimmy Walker out of office. He is famous for telling Mayor Walker: "Plain and simple...you are a thief."

If this website is the closest I ever come to shopping in NY, NY, it has been a pleasure. I have checked the store on-line, and you may have to block me out -- it looks very tempting. It may replace my childhood fantasy of getting locked in our small town library. One little old lady and sevens floors of old books--Heaven. Thanks! - Katherine James
