Description: Map. Engraving with original hand coloring. Image measures 16.5" x 22.5".

Comments: This is a beautifully colored geological map of New York State. A key to the right side explains the range of colors which indicate rock composition throughout the state. Counties and major towns and cities are labeled. The map is from Asher & Adams' 1872 "New Topographical Atlas and Gazetteer of New York." The map is in good condition, although the center seam is torn and there are scattered tears and chips at the edges. Asher & Adams were publishers based in Washington and New York in the late 19th century who produced some of the most detailed and colorful atlases of the period. This stunning map offers a unique perspective on New York State.
