Comments: American traveler, adventurer and author who died at age 39 in an attempt to sail a Chinese junk, the Sea Dragon, across the Pacific ocean from Hong Kong to the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco, a feat that made him legendary. More recent revelations have shown that Halliburton, though infatuated with the image of heroic masculinity, was an early proponent of Gay Rights. He was romantically linked to film star Ramon Navarro and philanthropist Noel Sullivan. His most enduring relationship was with freelance journalist Paul Mooney, with whom he shared living quarters and perished on March 24, 1939.Signed: Y
