Typed Letter Signed eight days before Pearl Harbor

Washington, D.C. 1941.

1 page on "Secretary Of The Navy" letterhead, 10.5 x 8 inches, Washington, D.C., November 29, 1941. Written to Clarence Streit, an American writer and political scientist, who founded the Federal Union (a think-tank that recognized the dangers of the Japanese military) and the Atlantic Union Committee -- both of which played a significant role in the creation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in full: "Thank you for your letter of November 22nd, with the enclosures. The latter, I am taking home with me to go over carefully. I will try to find time to get together with you when you are in Washington. I hope that this will be possible." Two horizontal folds; near fine condition.

This letter likely pertains to intelligence being shared concerning possible Japanese aggression. Both Knox and Streit would make appearances before the Congressional Investigative Committee on Pearl Harbor.
