Striking large scale Colonial map of the Eastern New York State watershed with a focus on the Hudson River. Includes New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania with Delaware, Maryland, Vermont, part of the Province of Quebec and part of Lake Ontario. This edition has three great inset maps; "A Chart of the Mouth of the Hudson's River from Sandy Hook to New York", "Plan of the City of New York" and a "Plan of Amboy with it's Environs, from an actual survey" (Perth Amboy, New Jersey). Eastern Lake Ontario is covered in detail including "Fort de Frontenac" (Kingston) and "Les Mille Isles" (Thousand Islands). This edition is the fifth and final state and was reprinted during the beginning stages of the American Revolution and published by Sayer (Jefferys' one-time partner) and Bennett in "Jefferys' American Atlas". Thomas Jefferys (c. 1710-1771) was one of the most important and prolific mapmakers of his era with particular focus on North America. Some damp stains and tape residue but otherwise a beautiful copy of this map.
