Description: 1 page on personal letterhead, 10.5 x 7.25 inches, New York, August 20, 1984, clarifying his views on Soviet-American relations, in part: "I will be unable to participate in Stop The Arms Race Day...I will be out of the country for several months. The proposal attached to your note lists my name along with a number of others. I hope it will not lead people to believe I am involved with what you are doing. I take deep interest in Soviet-American relations, however, I put most of my time and effort into the Center for Foreign Policy and Development..." Usual folds; staple hole in the upper left corner. Near fine.

Comments: American businessman who succeeded his father as President of IBM. In 1979 he became Ambassador to the Soviet Union and was the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
