9.25 x 7.5 inches, no place, undated signature but with an "Edward H. Rehnquist" back stamp from January 1934. This sepia-tone image depicts both characters in black-face in their dressing room -- Molasses holding a card hand of five aces while January pets a dog on his make-up table. Inscribed by Pick Padgett in green fountain pen: "With best wishes to Artie from your two pals Molasses...[Pat Malone adding] and January." Very good(+) condition.

Vaudeville radio show performers who starred in "Here Comes the Show boat" (broadcasting from a studio), featuring fictional characters "Captain Henry" and black-face deck hands "Molasses and January." The show aired from 1931 through 1945. Their real names were Pick Padgett and Pat Malone, two Irishmen who had a second radio show called "Pick and Pat," which appeared on NBC, CBS, The Lux Theater, The Chesterfield Super Club, etc.
