Description: 1 page, 6.5 x 5.75 inches, Brooklyn, January 2, 1895, on "Trustees of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge" letterhead, containing a handsome steel engraving depicting schooners and steam ships sailing beneath Brooklyn Bridge. Written to Herbert F. Gunnison, editor of the "Brooklyn Eagle," in part: "I forwarded to the Hanover Club five dollars for reception tickets. I am under the impression that I forgot to sign my name. I directed it to this address if not too much trouble. I wish you luck with this matter..." Horizontal folds; very good(+) condition.

Comments: Prominent New York City politician and administrator who was elected two terms as Mayor of Brooklyn in 1877 and 1879. He also held the title of President of the Trustees of the Brooklyn Bridge. The Hanover Club was an elite Brooklyn social club.
