Description: 1 page, 8.75 x 8 inches, Cambridge, Massachusetts, no date, circa 1910. This manuscript contains the full text of her poem "Here is April," 13 lines, originally published in her acclaimed book "The Singing Leaves" in 1903, in part: "Wearied one, Rest a little in the sun. Here is April come behind you, With a blessing on your head; Rains unshed." Peabody has signed her full name and address above the title, as well as an additional signature at the conclusion. Partial tears and chips along the folds; uneven bottom edge. Good condition.

Comments: American poet and dramatist who died at age 47. Her book of poems "The Singing Leaves" (1903) was an instant success, and critics compared her writings to Shakespeare.
