The Rival Princes; or a Faithful Narrative of Facts, relating to...Col. Wardle, Major Dodd, etc., concerned in the Charges against the Duke of York.

London: Privately Printed, 1810.

Fine engraved portrait. Frontispiece and title page foxed. 2 volumes, 8vo, handsomely rebound in 3/4 polished tan calf, leather spine labels, marbled edges. London: For the author, 1810. First Edition. Very good (+).

Fine copy of this astonishing expose by the beautiful actress who was the Duke's mistress. She was charged by Col. Wardle with receiving bribes for obtaining commissions through her influence with the Duke. This scandal raised a cloud of pamphlets, of which this is by far the most curious and amusing. After being imprisoned for libel in 1813, she moved to Paris, where she died 35 years later.
