Description: Excellent signature and salutation removed from a letter: "With high respect - I remain yours - Rubens Peale", 1.5 x 4.5 inches, written in dark brown iron gall ink, mounted to a 3.5 x 6-inch card, no date, circa 1855. Some spots of browning; otherwise fine.

Comments: American artist and museum director. His father was the acclaimed painter and naturalist Charles Wilson Peale, and his brother was Rembrandt Peale.
