Beautiful large scale map of England in high detail. On four sheets, two have been conjoined to form two panels (north and south). The seas are dotted with decorative ships and an ornate cartouche depicts evidence of England's cultural and political power. Artifacts include gold coins, a book by Shakespeare, a painter's palette, architectural renderings, and a book of music. Inset of Isle of Scilly. John Rocque (c. 1704-1762) was a Swiss Huguenot who grew up in London. He worked as a land surveyor, publisher and engraver. Stain to bottom margin of top sheet.
