Description: 1 page, 7.25 x 5 inches, on "Irish Literary Society" letterhead, 20 Hanover Square, London, January 16, 1907. Written during his stay in London in which he promoted Irish cultural projects while working as a teacher, in part: "...I would be delighted to go on Wednesday the 23rd, only that I have a Gaelic class every Wednesday evening at Kennington...and I cannot possibly disappoint my students...every good wish to the Clann Seton, for the year 1907." Boldly signed in full using his Gaelic name "Seosamh MacCathhaoil." This letter has uneven toning, but is written and signed in bold black ink. Good condition.
Comments: Irish Nationalist poet and founder of the Ulster Literary Theatre. He was an active participant in the 1916 Easter uprising and later, as a Sinn Fein Concillor, participated in the Irish Civil War, on the Republican side before being interned (1922 - 1924).Signed: Y
