Comments: Charles P. Rising (1859-1920) was a landscape artist born in Auburn, New York near the Finger Lakes. Artistically inclined from an early age, Rising studied with Hudson River painter George Clough (1825-1901). Rising worked in a variety of media including charcoal, oil, watercolor and pencil, and his delicate drawings clearly reflect the inspiration he found in the enchanting landscapes of his native region. Light crease and tear to lower left corner. Minor overall smudging.

I couldn't believe how fast you sent me this wonderful item! I didn't expect it to have anything on children's cookery (my focus), but because Juliet Corson is SO important, I bought it. What a surprise to find a "Boys' and Girls' Kitchen" column, and a tiny personal fact about J's childhood. I hit the lottery, so to speak. I'm ordering tons of diamonds to fall from the sky on you some lovely warm day. Don't I wish I could do that... - Barbara Abbott
