Description: Autographed letter signed to her dear friend and fellow author Sewell Stokes. 1 page, 8vo, 8.75 x 6.75 inches, Hotel Josse, Antibes, no date, circa 1928. In this letter, she acknowledges that she would love to meet a fellow writer, however, "...while I was swimming off some rocks a sea beast of some sort indulged in familiarities with me...I don't mean that he was Jupiter in disguise or anything like that...but he stung me lightly in various parts which haven't healed...I therefore am living in seclusion all this week. Anytime next week will be grand..." Scalloped-edge paper with several light wrinkles and usual folds; still very good condition.

Comments: A rare glimpse at the lighter side of Rebecca West, who was an English journalist, literary critic, and prolific author.

Dear Argosy. THANK YOU very very much. I ordered the book "A Case of Removal of the Lower Jaw, for Osteo-Sarcoma of Immense Size" by George C. Blackman. I was pleased beyond words just to think that I was getting an original copy of a book that my great great grandfather wrote. When it arrived it was an even bigger treasure for me, as his own handwriting was in the upp right corner of the cover, giving the book to a fellow colleague. Thanks again so very much for helping me bring my ancestry searching a little closer and more personal. - S.B. Pratt
