Comments: One of only 35 copies printed. The remainder of 34 copies were presumably not illustrated and were bound in cloth. This unique copy has been carefully extra-illustrated, and re-bound in contemporary leather. A holograph note on the title page reads "Illustrated by Henry J. Camman, 1875". Most of the mounted illustrations are portraits of American Revolutionary figures, or of New Yorkers. Included are many views of New York architecture, a map of Revolutionary New York & environs in 1778 and a few views of Dutch New York. William Duer was a prominent lawyer who later became judge, as well as president of Columbia College. Bound in are two letters from Morgan Dix, rector of Trinity Church. A newspaper article is affixed to a blank page. William Loring Andrews published books distinctive for their taste in type, illustrations & binding, usually in very limited editions, which were widely collected.Edition: First
