Description: 1 page on cream colored paper, 10 x 8 inches, no place, no date, circa 1890. Handwritten poem with corrections; two stanzas, each 8 lines, written for Col. Charles Kern and incorporating Kern's name twice within the poem. Kern's meeting President and Mrs. Cleveland inspired this amusing poem and the Clevelands are mentioned in the first stanza. Field's signature is darker than the rest of the manuscript and has a small, faint stain partially overlapping it; several folds. Very good(-) condition.

I don't think I have ever before felt the urge to write to a business, but I wanted to let you know that I have been extremely pleased with everything I have received. I started acquiring older titles when I decided to read some of the early writings in my field. While I noticed that some books were available digitally, I quickly discovered that nothing compares to having the actual books in my hands. For me, they inspire a feeling of deep respect for the work of these past authors that just cannot arise similarly from an eReader or a PDF. All of the books I ordered have been beautiful, packed with obvious care, and shipped in lightning speed. I'm hooked! The next time I head downstate I will look forward to visiting your store in person! Best Regards - Lisa.
