Description: 2 pages, legal folio, 13 x 8.5 inches -- an agreement dated June 19, 1947, whereby Sinclair Lewis agrees to assign the copyright to his book "Kingsblood Royal" to a Czechoslovakian publisher, with the stipulation that "said literary property must be translated into the Czech language and shall not be sold or distributed in blocked countries" (Communist regimes). In consideration for the licensing of his literary property, Lewis expects $100.00 to be paid upon signing the agreement, $200.00 upon publication of said work, and ten percent royalty on the printing of the first 10,000 copies. Boldly signed by Lewis at the conclusion and initialed on the condition clause. Usual folds; very good condition.

Comments: Apparently this contract was not executed as it lacks the publisher's signature and seal. Sinclair Lewis, the American novelist and playwright, was the recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1930.

Dear Argosy, Thank you for your prompt and efficient attention to my order. It has arrived safely and I am very pleased with it. It was particularly good of you to take the trouble (and expense!) to send it priority mail. - K. McIntosh
