2 pages (front and back), 9.75 x 8 inches, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, May 13, 1823 -- a militia directive sent to Major Samuel Anderson, responding to his letter of resignation, withdrawing himself from command to which he was elected by the unanimous votes of the officers and men, comprising the Delaware County Militia. In small part: "...It would have given us much pleasure could your private arrangements have admitted you to remain with us...we trust that...the prospects you have formed for yourself, may be realized in the fullest intent..."
