Walter Hood Fitch (1817-1892) was born and educated in Glasgow, Scotland. He moved to London to work with W. J. Hooker, director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where Fitch became the sole artist for all official and unofficial publications. This lithograph is one of a series produced for H. J. Elwes's "Monograth of the Genus Lilium." Binding stain along right edge, small chips to left edge, lower left corner and bottom edge, two small tears to bottom edge.
