Comments: Panoramic view of town of Schlan with fields and landscape in foreground, strong impression. Schlan is near Prague and was founded at the site of a salt spring. Slani, the original Czech name, means salty. Matthaus Merian (1593-1650), was a draughtsman, topographical engraver, and publisher from Switzerland. This engraving was published near the time of his death. Minor chipping to edges. Two inch tear to bottom margin, and small tear to right margin.
