Date Published: 1969

Description: 2 pages (front and back), 13 x 8.5 inches, no place, October 17, 1969 -- an attractive pardon signed by Queen Elizabeth II on the front and Prime Minister James Callahan as Home Secretary on the back. Prominent red wax seal on the upper left. Tiny stain near the lower left corner; very good(+) condition.

Comments: The pardon is on behalf of Robert Stewart for theft. James Callahan was a very important British figure as he was the only person to have served in all four Great Offices of State: Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Home Secretary, and Foreign Secretary.

Your beautifully wrapped package of books -- two copies of "Journal in the Night" -- arrived at my door this morning and made my day! A thousand thanks for the care you took, first to find them, and then to send them as you did, all done up with tissue paper to boot. It was like Christmas in June AND it was my first experience buying books on the Internet. All the best to you, and perhaps our paths will cross again. - Janet B.
