Description: 2 pages (front and back), 7 x 4.5 inches, no place, January 11, 1853. Written by the diplomat and scholar, thanking a colleague for a book and referencing two German literary figures (Johann Heinrich Voss and Ernst Wilhelm Hengstenberg), in part: "...I wish to thank you for the copy...and for your note both received today...The author of the two most learned men in Germany, known as the head of their high-orthodox party...The pamphlet would be very fit for translations and I therefore recommend it..." Neatly mounted along the left edge to a piece of paper; light staining and smudging on the first page. Very good(-) condition.

I just finished reading about the store and your family in Nick Basbanes newest book, Patience & Fortitude. I had previously read an article in Book magazine. I wished that I lived near so I could visit your store, it looks and sounds like a place I dream of getting lost in. Basbanes book mentioned that your father began a memoir but was, sadly, unable to finish the work. Would it be in anyway possible to read what must be a great historical adventure in bookselling?
