Autographed Letter Signed

Tuskegee Institute, AL: 1934.

2 pages, 11 x 8.5 inches, on personal "Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute" letterhead, Tuskegee Institute, AL, April 27, 1934 -- an explicit letter to a young man, filled with highly personal observations on the race barrier which separates them, in part: "Your letter touches me so very deeply as it touches my life so vitally. The financial condition has and is a great stumbling block in our path, this in time I hope will be overcome I am sure. The great mountain which separates us and which is forming the greatest barrier is race hatred, neither you nor I have it. We are scientists searching for truth, our souls are attuned to that great harmonious chord that naturally draws us together...As you know you are my ideal as a young man..." Signed "G.W. Carver." Two punch-holes in the top margin; natural folds. Very good condition.
