Description: 1 page, 9 x 7.75 inches, no place, March 5, 1799. Fine letter with a full, bold signature of the Chief Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, written to the First Treasurer Samuel Meredith concerning the purchase of a house, in part: "...I have considered your offer of %u20A4325 for the rent on my house in Chesnut Street, which is so much below what I consider its value, that I cannot bring myself to accept it...if your offer had been %u20A4350...I might have accepted it from you..." Several folds; chipped on the right margin with some loss of text. Good condition.
