Description: Humorous 16-line poem signed in full by the British poet laureate, expressing thanks to his friends for making him feel at home during a visit, in part: "I've had a better time this trip than when I came before For Eleanor and Sister Sue Who met me at the door... When I was here two weeks ago My life was made a torture By one whose name I must forego To mention -- She's a scorcher." 1 page on lined notebook paper with a clipping, glued to the paper, of a washerwoman in a blouse and dress, carrying a basket of laundry with a black square in place of her head. 6.5 x 7.5 inches. No place, July 1, 1904. Very good condition.

Thanks for the note. I'm actually in NY for a few days and was hoping to get there but have to head back tomorrow. I've been stopping by the Argosy for over 60 years starting when my mother would take me there after shopping at Bloomingdale's and lunch at a long gone restaurant on the east side of Lexington between 58th and 59th that was torn down to make way for Alexander's department store; that is gone too, of course. - Peter H.
