Comments: A seminal work in the field of education. This was the first of many collaborations between the well-known Irish novelist Maria Edgeworth and her father. Inspired by Rousseau, and contrary to the prevailing wisdom, she stressed that education could be a dynamic, creative and enjoyable experience. "The most important work on general pedagogy to appear in this country between Locke's Thoughts and Herbert Spencer's Essay in 1861." - Muirhead 57; Slade 3a.

I spent an incredibly pleasant three hours in your bookstore today, my first visit despite living in Brooklyn for nearly 20 years. Thank you so much for your careful selection of books and the more than reasonable prices. Wishing you another 100 years (at least) of success... you're a big part of what makes NYC such a vibrant and exciting place to live. - Chris W.
