Comments: Enlarged from the 56 page New York edition of 1787 with 174 pages of added notes by Dupont de Nemours, Condorcet and J. Antoine Gauvain Gallois. The authorship of this work is sometimes attributed to William Livingston, but Thomas Jefferson acknowledged the work to be by Stevens. One of the earliest works on the United States Constitution, with much on John Adams' recently published Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States, and De Lolme's Constitution of England.
