Description: 2 volumes. Frontispiece and title page with engraved vignette. Embellished with 70 very fine engraved plates, protected by tissue. Bound in contemporary burgundy diced calf with gilt-lettered spines (front joint in first volume is cracked and repaired; faint damp stains to bottom page edges, well outside of image/text area, most noticeable on binding; interior is otherwise quite clean); inner dentelles and marbled endpapers. London: John Stockdale, 1793.

Comments: A finely printed work, famous for the 12 plates engraved by William Blake, as well as the work of many other artists and engravers. This copy contains the "Gay Monument" frontispiece, which is often lacking.

Thanks for the note. I'm actually in NY for a few days and was hoping to get there but have to head back tomorrow. I've been stopping by the Argosy for over 60 years starting when my mother would take me there after shopping at Bloomingdale's and lunch at a long gone restaurant on the east side of Lexington between 58th and 59th that was torn down to make way for Alexander's department store; that is gone too, of course. - Peter H.
