Description: 2 pages on blue stationery paper, 7 x 4.5 inches, no place, May 3, 1853. In this letter, Lord Shaftesbury praises The Religious Tract Society and promises to attend a meeting if he is able, in part: "...The Religious Tract Society has rendered such services to England and I wish that Every one who cares for such things must feel anxious to bear testimony to its honor and deserving..." Several folds; mounting remnants on verso. Very good condition.

Comments: 7th Earl of Shaftesbury and labor reformer known for his work to change child labor laws in Britain.
