Description: 1 page, 10.5 x 8.25 inches, New York, July 28, 1943. In this letter, La Guardia proposes a military band contest to be sponsored by the City of New York, in part: "...A contest of this kind would not only provide entertainment for thousands of citizens but also bring them in closer contact with the boys in service and what they represent..." Accompanied by an entry blank signed "La Guardia" in pencil by someone else. Slight paperclip impression on the upper left corners of both pages; minor darkening along the upper right margin of the letter. Still very good condition.
