Description: Prepared under the instructions from the Quartermaster General. 10 chromolithograph plates. 9 black and white plates. 4pp. of text. oblong 4to, rebound in modern cloth; (a few contemporary words in pencil in margins of two chromolithographs, rubberstamps of previous owner on t.p., last blank page, and verso of last black & white plate, dampstaining to margins of most plates, soiling to margins of chromo- lithographs, rubbing to extremities of cloth). Philadelphia: Thomas Hunter, 1882. Very good.

Comments: Each chromolithograph depicts four men in full uniform. Uniforms from corporal to general are shown. The black and white plates contain several line drawings each illustrating individual parts of the uniform which are unique to each rank. Howes R-155
