Description: [12], 417 pages. Square 8vo, handsomely rebound in full brown morocco with simple blind-stamped panels and gilt lettering on spine with raised bands (scattered foxing, mostly quite clean). London: Printed by James Flesher for Henry Hood, 1650. Third edition, much enlarged. Near fine.

Comments: One of the most popular books on regimen of the period, with much information on diet and nutrition. Venner (1577-1660) advocated moderation in smoking, but tears down some of the contemporary superstitions on the evil of the habit. Also, his writings did much to popularize the therapeutic waters of Bath.
