Comments: Manuscript listing of births and a death of James Shinn family on front flyleaf. The principal work of the Dutch Quaker historian. Sewel spent 25 years in the preparation of this work first published in Dutch in 1717. The work was written to correct the misrepresentations of Gerard Croese's Historia Quakeriana. "Its accuracy has never been impugned, and it remains a classical authority." DNB XVII, 1222. Evans 13607.
