Description: A comprehensive run of the famous bookseller's most important book catalogues. Introd. by Archibald Hanna, Jr., Curator, Yale Collection of Western Americana. Index by Karl Brown, former editor & bibliographer, NYPL. 4 vols. thick 8vo, 1/2 maroon calf, boxed. New York, 1965. Volume 1 is lightly worn at spine ends; index volume has small dampstain to edge of cloth. Still a very near fine set.

Comments: Of highest value for a student of Western Americana, this series of catalogs contain a wealth of notes on rare materials relating to the American West. Of special interest are the catalogs listing items from the collections of Frederick S. Dellenbaugh, and Ferdinand Cartwright Ewer, rare Mormon items, overland narratives, Indian books, captivities, Yosemite and the California Big Trees, the Gold Rush, and Kansas and the Great Plains. DeLuxe edition of 90 copies in a handsome leather binding, signed by Lindley and Charles Eberstadt, and Archibald Hanna. Tipped in is an original leaf from the first history of California: Venegas. Noticia de la California. Madrid, 1757.
