Illustrated with 4 exquisite colored stipple engravings (foxed) & further commentaries on the doctrines of Mr. Hunter. 4to, rebound in green cloth. London, 1807. Second Edition. Very good.

Comments: Proksch I, 259. The chief work of Adams (1756-1818), a respected practitioner and physician to the Small Pox Hospital. In this work Adams defends John Hunter, of whom he was a great admirer, against various attacks by his detractors, as well as presents his own work on contagion and preventative measures, including inoculation and vaccinations. The four fine engraved plates printed in colors, which are very striking, illustrate skin lesions and other external characteristics of various diseases.

I don't think I have ever before felt the urge to write to a business, but I wanted to let you know that I have been extremely pleased with everything I have received. I started acquiring older titles when I decided to read some of the early writings in my field. While I noticed that some books were available digitally, I quickly discovered that nothing compares to having the actual books in my hands. For me, they inspire a feeling of deep respect for the work of these past authors that just cannot arise similarly from an eReader or a PDF. All of the books I ordered have been beautiful, packed with obvious care, and shipped in lightning speed. I'm hooked! The next time I head downstate I will look forward to visiting your store in person! Best Regards - Lisa.
