"Xansi"
1630



By William Blaeu (1571-1638), who founded his company in 1596 initially as a globe and instrument maker. He flourished in Amsterdam for more than 40 years as a publisher of maps, globes, and atlases in a addition to poetry, theology, and mathematical works. His family was one of the most famous 16th century publishers of maps until a fire in 1672 destroyed a large portion of the stock.

This copper plate engraving with hand coloring shows Xansi Province with part of the Great Wall and many small cities.
